Nature does not begin in the forest or at a mountain peak; it begins in the invisible.
Microscopia invites us to slow our gaze and turn toward a world that usually remains hidden from view. Rica Fuentes Martinez makes the tiniest organisms visible—insects, bacteria, viruses, and microscopic structures appear in precise watercolors of surprising beauty.
The works hover between scientific observation and artistic imagination. Colors, shapes, and structures evoke landscapes or abstract compositions before their true origins are revealed.
Alongside the detailed watercolors, we encounter Earth’s smallest inhabitants as crocheted sculptures. With their soft, colorful forms, they invite us to discover the hidden microscopic world with curiosity. These textile works remind us that even the most inconspicuous life forms are part of the complex network upon which we all depend.
In the Micro Space for Art, the exhibition space itself becomes a place of magnification. The small is accorded attention, dignity, and significance.
At a time when the relationship between humanity and nature is undergoing fundamental change, Microscopia reminds us that life rests upon countless organisms we barely notice—even though nothing could exist without them.
