Artist Statement
Anna Pelz (*1997, Vienna) is a trained graphic and communication designer and has been studying in the TransArts class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna with Nita Tandon, Stephan Hilge, Roman Pfeffer and Painting with Henning Bohl since 2018.
She works with a focus on painting, which is constantly influenced by the experimental and playful use of text, sculpture and photography.
Her works deal with inner and outer worlds and are dominated by bright colors and biomorphic forms. Inspirations from personal life and the influence of current events merge and shape images of emotional physicality and ambivalent tension.
The artist has been exhibiting solo and in group exhibitions since 2019 (ParallelVienna 2019 & 2020, AUSBRUCH - LesNouveauxRichesMagazin @ImproperWallsGallery, KAH @OrpheumGraz, ...) and took part in a residency at the St.Moritz Art Academy in 2020 as part of a scholarship.
